To be eligible for a student visa in Ireland, you must:

• Letter of acceptance from a recognized school or college or university in Ireland confirming that you have been accepted on a course of study.
• Evidence of your academic ability to pursue the chosen course through the English language
• Evidence that the fees for the course have been paid in full.
• Evidence that you have enough funds (€10,000) to maintain yourself for the initial part of your stay.
• Evidence that you or a sponsor have access to at least €10,000 for each subsequent year of your studies, in addition to the course fees for each of those years.
• Evidence that you have private medical insurance
• An explanation of any gaps in your educational history
• Confirmation that you intend to return to your country of permanent residence when you leave Ireland.

Documents needed for Visa application

• A current passport or other valid travel documentation
• Letter of acceptance from a recognized Irish institution
• As a mandatory condition, your passport needs to be valid for 12 months i.e., after your proposed date of arrival in Ireland
• Passport-sized colour photographs
• The score of an English language proficiency test such as IELTS
• Proof of fee payment (this can either be a valid receipt showing course fees have been lodged to an approved student fee payment service or of a copy of the Electronic Transfer of Funds by the applicant to the Irish bank of the university or college
• Evidence of funds (€7,000) to provide your living expenses for the duration of your course
• Evidence that accounts for any gaps in your educational history (if any)

• You might also be asked to provide with your biometric information as part of the application process
• A statement of your commitment that you’ll leave Ireland on the expiry of your visa
• For a ‘C’ visa you need application summary sheets and proof of your return home as attested documents

Part-Time Work Permissions in Ireland.

There are several conditions you must adhere to once you are granted any Irish visa, including a study visa, however. When it comes to being employed whilst studying in Ireland, there are certain requirements you must meet.

If you have been granted a Stamp 2 in your passport when acquiring your Student Visa, this allows you to take up casual employment of up to 20 hours per week (part-time work) during term time, or up to 40 hours per week during vacation periods. A Stamp 2 signifies that you are studying a course that features on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes, therefore you are deemed entitled to work for the stated hours. Students must obtain a Personal Public Services Number to take up work – employers can only pay individuals who provide this number. If, however, you received a Stamp 2A, you will not be required to take up any part-time work or engage in any business or profession. You must check which Stamp you have been given to ensure that you are abiding by the conditions of your immigration permission.
