To be eligible for Germany student visa, you must have:

  • You must have an admission letter from a German university or preparatory school.
  • You must have enough funds to cover your stay in Germany; opening a blocked account,acquiring a scholarship, or a sponsor letter.

Documents needed for Visa application

  • Valid Passport.
  • Application form and declaration (in accordance with section 54 of the residence act) duly signed.
  • Declaration for additional contact and legal representation information.
  • Copy of your passport’s data page (A4 size copy).
  • Statement of purpose / Motivation letter.
  • Certificate issued by the APS (Academic Evaluation Centre).
  • Proof of admittance to the study course/preparatory college.
  • Certificates of all academic qualifications you have previously obtained.

Do International Students in Germany need Health Insurance?

    International students in Germany are required by law to have some form of healthcare coverage.

Part-time work permission on Germany Student Visa

  • You are only allowed to work 140 full days or 280 half days per year.
  • You are not allowed to undertake self-employment or freelancing.
  • If you want to work more than the hours allowed, you should ask for permission from the local employment agency (Agentur für Arbeit) and the foreigners’ registration office (Ausländerbehörde).
  • International students working as academic assistants are not usually restricted to a limit of working hours. Nevertheless, they will still have to let the foreigners’ office know about their circumstances.
